What's the difference in the kinds of metal letters listed in the index above?
Flat letters are, as the name implies, letters made from flat metal in different finishes and thicknesses. The thickness of the letters is based on the available metal choices, usually ranging from 1/8" (0.125") to 1/2" (0.5"). Available materials include
- Aluminum, available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4"
- Copper, available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8"
- Brass, available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4"
- Bronze, available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2"
- Steel, available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4"
Flat cut letters in aluminum may be anodized for greater strength and weather resistant finishes for an added cost.
60 typestyles to choose from |
Foundry Cast Letters are available in 46 standard paint colors as well as aluminum finishing options like anodizing and in bronze patinas as well. As these are made with foundry molds, there are 60 typestyles to choose from.
Fabricated letters are available in almost any style in stainless steel and aluminum. These are best suited for internal illumination for back lit letters.
Metal letters are all priced based on various factors. These include amount of material, amount of processing and labor and hand-finishing time.
